The renowned hotel chain On Vacation celebrates 20 years in which it has managed to fulfill the traveling dreams of Colombians, through a proposal of fair rates and payment alternatives for vacations. In the same way, the company has contributed to the development of destinations, promoting tourism within the region, as is the case of La Guajira and the Amazon. In the same way, it has created new job opportunities for members of ethnic groups, among other contributions that it has generated to support the growth of the sector in the country.
“It has been 20 years of hard work to contribute to the development of the destinations where we have a presence; We have experienced major events such as the pilots' strike, the pandemic with its consequences, and two harsh hurricanes with the infrastructure of the San Andrés Island. Our effort in the coming months will be to continue working to strengthen the infrastructure and service in our hotels, train and develop the communities around us and achieve Reaching 4,000,000 traveling dreams come true,” said Laura Muñoz, president of On Vacation.
20 years in figures:
Through 20 years, this 100% Colombian company has managed to grow from 84 rooms in two hotels located in San Andrés to 1,500 located in 8 destinations, including the 300 new bungalow-type rooms in its Wayira Beach hotel in La Guajira and 52 in the hotel of the Amazon.
Human capital and its development have been a great pillar for the company, impacting more than 38,000 people with employment. Another of On Vacation's great commitments has been to contribute to the economic growth of the places where it has a presence, in this sense, the hotels have been operated 80% by Colombians belonging to different indigenous and Raizal communities, who have been trained and technified their capacities, promoting their economy and their development.
